April 2026
A Note from our President:
The Turkey season begins this weekend. Please be careful out in the field. For those of you that own your own property or have permission to hunt on private land you can hunt a half an hour before sunrise and a half an hour after sunset.
The youth season was last weekend and a total of 5,255 turkeys were harvested compared to 4,449 harvested in 2025.
Our Chapter is moving to a new website company; we are in the process of building our new website and we are several weeks away from completion. This newsletter will be the last communication to our members on our old platform.
The Star Chapter platform will have many new features and will be beneficial to you, our members.
Mark your calendars for our 22nd Annual Fundraiser to be held at Orlando’s Event Center Maryland Heights, Saturday March 6, 2027.
Good luck during the spring Turkey season please be sure to take pictures of your harvest and send them to our website so we can post them for the rest of our membership.
We will inform you when our new website is completed.

Field Tips
The most important thing in turkey hunting is don’t move an inch! Try to find out where the Tom’s roost the night before so you can locate them and set up for the morning hunt.

August A. Busch Shooting Range and Outdoor Center
The Gateway Area Chapter SCI encourages our members to make use of the August A. Busch Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center. We will once again be present at their Family Day at the Range on June 29th, 2026 from 3:00-7:00 PM.
The Busch facility is an excellent place for wildlife conservation organizations like ours to promote wildlife conservation and hunter advocacy. In addition, we are considering conducting a joint outdoor event for our Youth with Disabilities initiative; we will keep you updated on our progress.
